If you live in St. Lucie County in Florida, and you just so happen to need to visit the DMV, there are three separate locations that you could visit to get driving or license-related services done. There’s one in Tradition, the other is in Ft. Pierce, while the last DMV office is located in Port St Lucie, all of which offer easy access and contact, and the ability to make an appointment.

Focusing mainly on the Port St Lucie DMV office, they cater to your usual DMV affair, such as registering your vehicle, issuing new licenses, as well as taking the road or written tests there. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about how to contact them, making an appointment at the Port St Lucie DMV, their operating hours, some extra tips, and more:

1) Contact Information

  • Phone Number: (772) 462-1650
  • Email Address: [email protected]
  • Address: 1664 SE Walton Road, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952
  • Mailing Address: PO Box 308, Fort Pierce, FL 34954

Unfortunately, the Port St Lucie DMV office doesn’t offer any additional contact methods, like through social media or real-time live chat, but it at least offers more options than some other DMV locations that I’ve come across before. Therefore, if you need to make an appointment at the Port St Lucie DMV office, a quick phone call or email should do it.

As for phone calls specifically, it’s worth noting that your phone calls are directed straight to the DMV customer service reps, but of course, it’s only during office hours.

Furthermore, as of July 8th, 2020, you’ll need to make an appointment prior to visiting the Port St Lucie DMV office, as well as those three other aforementioned locations servicing folks living in St Lucie County. More information for specifics is included further down below.

2) Opening And Closing Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: Closed

If you want to visit or fulfill your appointment at the Port St Lucie DMV office, it’s best to avoid visiting during the mid-day and the early afternoon, as these are normally their peak hours. If you happen to drop by during these busy hours, you should expect a pretty long queue.

Otherwise, I’d highly advise visiting during the early morning or late afternoon, if you’re keen on avoiding long queues. As always though, the wait times can still vary, but usually, visiting outside of peak hours can help to minimize the waiting that you’ll have to do.

However, you shouldn’t arrive too late in the day, as certain walk-ins and appointments can’t be serviced past a certain time. Refer to the ‘Appointments’ section below to find out specific cut-off times for each.

3) Services Provided

When you’re visiting the Port St Lucie DMV office, here are some of the services that they cater to:

  • Driver’s License: Issuing and renewing licenses (incl. lost or stolen licenses).
  • Identification Cards: Issuing or renewing state IDs.
  • Tests: You can do your written and road tests here.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): Performing the relevant tests and issuing CDL licenses.
  • Vehicle Registration: Issuing new registrations and renewals.
  • Titling: Issuing new titles or handling renewals.
  • License Plates: Issuing new license plates.
  • Disabled Parking: Issuing disabled parking permits & wheelchair accessibility.

When you’re done with your appointment, the Port St Lucie DMV office accepts numerous, flexible payment options, including cash, checks, credit cards, and debit cards.

4) Visiting The Port St Lucie DMV

  • Directions: The DMV office is located at 1664 SE Walton Road, which is very easily accessible via major roads in Port St Lucie, making it easy to access for folks in and around St Lucie County. Once you get to Walton Road, there should be pretty clear signage that’ll lead you to the DMV office.

As for parking, when you get there, there is ample on-site parking at the Port St Lucie DMV office, in addition to alternative parking spots around the area.

As always, I highly recommend making an appointment when you’re visiting any DMV office, including at Port St Lucie. Moreover, for this specific location, appointments are required for taking road tests, and even for other services – where walk-ins might be available – they help with avoiding extensive wait times. Or else, you’ll have to look forward to a long line.

5) Making An Appointment At The Port St Lucie DMV

If you want to make an appointment at the Port St Lucie DMV office, appointments could be made online through the St Lucie County Tax Collector website, or by calling them directly at (772) 462-1650. Otherwise, for certain DMV-related services, you can skip visiting the DMV directly by just using the FLHSMV’s MyDMV online portal.

Concerning the availability of making appointments, I’d advise making them anywhere from several days to a whole week prior to visiting the Port St Lucie DMV office. Although, this will also depend on what the service you’re looking for requires. As I noted earlier, walk-ins might be permitted for most services, but appointments are advised to prevent long wait times.

On top of that, just like most DMV offices, the Port St Lucie DMV only takes in walk-ins on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. It’s also a good idea to remind you to be sure to bring all the necessary paperwork before making it to your appointment to ensure more efficient and effortless processing.

Here are some specific timeframes for appointments and walk-ins respectively, as mentioned by the Port St Lucie DMV office website:

  • Appointments: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 2:20 PM
  • Walk-Ins: Monday to Friday, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM (first come, first serve)

Also, all testing-related services (incl. written and road tests) end at 3:30 PM, while services related to ID cards and driver’s licenses end at 4:30 PM.
