About Us
Here at Online DMV we’re your go-to, all-in-one internet resource for all things related to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) across the United States, no matter which state you reside in. The goals of this site are to help you look up and find DMV offices and locations near you, alongside other DMV-related services and information.
So, whether you want to know where the nearest DMV office is located, trying to figure out what time they’re open, or even parsing through their online booking system, we’re here to help. We’re a free directory listing site where you can search and look up these DMV offices across all states, such as their contact information and address (with tons more besides), all in a singular, centralized site that has cataloged thousands of DMV locations.
Having done this over the past 20 years, our database has only grown since. Now, you might be asking yourself… What’s the point of using Online DMV where you could instead just refer to your state’s official DMV website? Well, for starters, Online DMV is designed from the ground up to simplify the often complicated and frustrating process of dealing with the DMV and their websites, now bringing together all the information you need into one, convenient location.
Simply put, our goal is to offer an easier, faster, and more effortless way of figuring out all these DMV resources, without having to manually go through each state’s official DMV website or having to map out this information overload yourself… Be it tediously searching through their ‘office finder’ tools and pouring through dozens of tabs and pages just to find what you’re looking for.
Welcome To OnlineDMV.com
With Online DMV, you can find out everything you need to know about every DMV office in all corners of the US, from their opening and closing hours, where they’re located, how to contact them, what’s the best time to drop by, or even how to book an appointment with them. We’re dedicated to making your DMV experience as smooth and as hassle-free as possible, without the headaches of mapping out how and when to best drop by.
Plus, we know just how antiquated some DMV sites are, which is why the user interface and user experience of our site are an utmost priority. And the best part… It’s all free for you to use and research, here at Online DMV. We hope that by making all this information more neatly presentable and easily digestible for you, you could plan your visit to the nearest DMV office and figure out what you can or can’t do at said DMV office way more effortlessly, both saving you time and a huge headache.
Let’s not forget that each state-specific DMV website has its own systems and procedures, which make finding even the most basic information time-consuming and often frustrating process. However, rather than trying to find a needle in a haystack, Online DMV cuts through all that clutter by presenting you with an easier, faster, and more convenient way to research and look up DMV resources. Additionally, instead of hopping from one state’s DMV site to another, we allow you to find everything you need in one handy place.
On top of that, over the years, we’ve expanded from being a directory site that catalogs all these DMV offices and locations, to now being an all-encompassing site for all things related to the DMV. This includes discussing things like the process for renewing your driver’s license, or how to apply for registration for your new car, and other guides that discuss motoring and driving laws and regulations across the United States. We want to make sure that you’re always informed, kept up-to-date, and compliant with state laws.
Speaking of keeping things up-to-date, if you want to learn more about how we manage our database, check out our Data Accuracy and Reliability Policy here.
Who Is The Online DMV Team?
The Online DMV team is based in the United States, and we have team members who pour countless hours into expanding our site’s bottomless knowledge base and directory listings. Our responsibilities are mainly to ensure that our directories of DMV locations remain up-to-date, such as making sure that the operating hours for each DMV office are accurate. Much of our work sometimes boils down to refreshing the list of services that a DMV office might offer, or even updating how you’re able to book an appointment if the processes have changed.
Anytime we spot these changes, be it through local news sources, official DMV press releases, and other reliable channels, we’re ready to get down to work to make sure that every piece of information presented to you here at Online DMV is helpful and precise. We’ve seen just how quickly DMV offices are changing with the times, such as offering online-only services and creating new tools to more efficiently let you book appointments.
Aside from keeping our eyes peeled at what the DMV is doing, we’re also hard at work expanding the many in-depth guides and step-by-step explainers on motoring and driving-related laws across all states. These include our beginner’s guides on applying for car insurance, or how to report totaled cars to the DMV, not to mention the process for going through your driver’s test. From complicated procedures to weird regulations, we here at Online DMV strive to help you navigate the often confusing world of the DMV and its laws.
Moreover, in addition to law and legal-related topics, we’re continually expanding Online DMV to also include a lot of our tips and tricks articles, like quick guides on detailing how you’re able to pass the DMV’s written driver’s test, or how to best plan your visit to the local DMV office to skip the queue. If you’ve left our site here with some new knowledge about the DMV or an added boost of confidence, then we’ll know that we’ve done our part here.

What Sort Of Directory Information Do We Provide?
As we mentioned earlier, our primary goal is to provide you with an easy, fast, and convenient way to look up and search through your state’s DMV to figure out what they offer, and some of the basics that we look at to help you include information such as:
1) Contact Information
For each DMV office, we’ll be sure to let you know how to best contact them. This should help you with inquiring beforehand to figure out how to do stuff with them, what sort of paperwork you need to prep before visiting, or how to make an appointment. This doesn’t just encompass their phone number, but we’ll also try to hunt down and present their fax number, email address, mailing address, or even their social media accounts.
2) Operating Hours
The DMVs of any state are notorious for their long wait times and even longer queues, so our primary goal is to inform you about the opening and closing hours for each DMV location. Plus, we’ll also analyze what their peak and off-peak hours are. So, here’s hoping that by letting you know what times to best avoid going to the DMV, you too might be able to avoid getting stuck in a long queue.
3) Services Provided
One common mistake many people make when going to the DMV is assuming that every DMV office provides all the services that the state advertises. Unfortunately, this is far from the truth, as the services provided may vary from one DMV location to another. So, we’re here to make sure that you’re aware of what your local DMV office can really do for you, and list all the types of services offered by each location.
4) Directions
In addition to making you aware of how to contact a DMV office of your choice, we also want to make things a lot easier for you by guiding you on how to get there. It’s easy to find their addresses online, but figuring out how to best go there, as well as detailing what parking options are available or other accessibility options, isn’t always so straightforward if you refer to just the DMV. Here, we’re making it easier for you to navigate to them.
5) Booking Appointments
Whether you’re looking to skip the queue by making an appointment beforehand, or if the particular service you are after requires that you book an appointment ahead of time, each DMV office has its own, distinct way of booking appointments. Sometimes, it’s calling them over the phone, beaming over an email, or going through a bespoke online scheduling system, we want to help guide you each step of the way in booking an appointment.
Proof of just how accurate and robust Online DMV’s database is can be showcased by how often we’re mentioned and referenced by other publications and organizations, so check out our ‘In The Media’ section here for some examples.
Making Sure Our Information Is Up To Date
One of the challenges of running a directory listing site is making sure all the information you see here is kept up-to-date at all times. We’ve seen just how rapidly each state’s DMV – especially as of the last few years – has been changing to keep up with the times. One such example is them moving more and more of their services online to make things easier for folks who don’t want or need to drop by the DMV in person. We’ve also seen a lot of DMV offices regularly shifting their operating hours, relocating offices, or introducing new services.
As such, here at Online DMV have to stay on top of new developments from each DMV office, per state, city, and county if need be, and not miss out on tiny DMV offices in each town and neighborhood across the US. All this is to ensure that all our directory information stays updated… If one office in a small town in the middle of nowhere changes its operating hours or has moved its parking spots a block away, we’ll be sure to catch that and let you know.
We do a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure that all of our information stays up-to-date, including working with each state’s Department of Motor Vehicles. At its most basic, we’re able to acquire entire spreadsheets from the DMV that detail all these changes and a complete directory of all their DMV offices. Alternatively, if we can’t do that, we’ll go through the trouble of sifting through countless press announcements or news articles to figure out what’s changed, and then update our directory listings accordingly.
Between our close relationship with each state’s DMV and the abundance of information that we can search for across the web, we work our hardest to make sure that every piece of information that you find here on Online DMV and our database is accurate and up-to-date. Yet, we aren’t perfect all the time, so feel free to contact us if you have new information that could help others. Otherwise, if something has slipped through the cracks or if you notice any discrepancies or incorrect data, feel free to share it with us.
